My Story

Rochelle-

handweaver

For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to making things by hand. I explored crochet, tapestry and embroidery, always enjoying the process of creating, yet feeling there was something else I was meant to be making. When I discovered weaving on a loom, I knew I had found it.

What continues to draw me to weaving is the quiet rhythm of the process, the repetition of traditional patterns, and the transformation of beautiful natural fibres into cloth. For me, weaving is about creating something soft, enduring and deeply satisfying to use and wear.

My weaving journey began in the studio above, under the guidance of the remarkable Kay Faulkner, a master weaver whose passion and skill encouraged her students to explore and realise their creative potential. Her influence continues to inspire my work today.

Each scarf, shawl and throw in my collection is               handcrafted with care, dedication and meticulous             attention to detail. I work on different floor looms, weaving    each piece individually.

Once a textile comes off the loom, it undergoes a careful finishing process. Fringes are hand-tied or hand-stitched, and every piece is washed and finished with the same attention given during weaving.

Using natural alpaca fibre, I create textiles that are soft, warm and designed to be enjoyed for many years. My hope is that each piece brings comfort, warmth, beauty and a sense of quiet luxury to your everyday life. Explore the collection of handwoven scarves, shawls and throws.

My Inspirations

My weaving studio is situated in Witta, just near Maleny in the quiet countryside of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Queensland. A place where misty mornings, birdsong and ducks all inspire each thread I weave.

“There are few industries left where speed and scale are not celebrated. Bigger, faster, stronger is now the way of the world.

There are a brand of champions, few in number, who fiercely protect the values upon which all industry was built – authenticity, quality & integrity.

Champions who create products that are part of a story much richer than anything mass produced. Products afforded the time they deserve. Products with soul.

What to Expect When Your Alpaca Throw Arrives

I believe in those little touches of luxury — the kind that turn an everyday moment into something special. When you purchase one of my alpaca items, it will arrive lovingly wrapped in earthy brown tissue, nestled inside a beautiful gift box. And when you open it and drape it around your shoulders, prepare to be wrapped in pure comfort. It’s incredibly soft, deeply cosy, and truly a pleasure against the skin — a sensory experience you won’t forget.
